May Bank Holiday 2017: 5 day-trips from London

26 May 2017

Day-trips from London

May Bank Holiday is finally here! If, like us, you’ve been waiting all week for the big break, you’re probably after some good places to spend the weekend. What’s more—you’re ready to leave the city behind, check out some of the UK’s highlights, and spread the goodness to all corners of the country. So are we!

If you’re after some ideas for day-trips away from London—we’ve got you covered. Here are 5 great ideas for you.

  1. 1. Surfing in Cornwall

It might be home to the widely revered Cornish Pasty, but, believe it or not, it’s also a great place to learn to surf. Try any one of these beaches. Catch a gnarly wave!

  1. 2. Sunbathing in Brighton

If you’re looking for simple things to do this bank holiday weekend, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better staple than Britain’s favourite seaside town. Find a park and set up base, or better—grab a hotspot on the beach. You’ll have to be quick, though—it’s going to be packed!

  1. 3. Camping in Essex

Lee Valley Campsite in Essex is your stay away from London, without really leaving London. Enjoy the great outdoors—only a short train journey away from the big smoke. It’s one of the better family activities this bank holiday weekend.

  1. 4. Discovering history in Windsor

For the UK native, Windsor Castle needs little introduction. Only an hour’s drive from London, this British Royalty treasure is chock-full of cool antiques for you to look at. But Windsor town itself also features an amazing array of old pubs, shops, and local delicacies. Bring a partner and dive into the UK’s amazing history.

  1. 5. Traverse the Tamsin Trail…by bike!

This one’s a wild time. As if all the deer, the beautiful land, and the cuddly couples weren’t enough—Richmond Park also has an amazing trail through the woods. It’s perfect for a bike ride with a partner. There’s even a small platform to see St Paul’s cathedral from, through the end of a (provided) telescope. Grab a bike and get moving!

Happy bank holiday from TPO!

TPO would like to wish you all a happy bank holiday. Though we’ll be kicking back under the sun in all the gardens of the world, we’ll also be doing our usual work: coming up with great SIM Card deals for you to enjoy, competitions for you to join, and causes for you to support, at no cost to you. Happy days; happy summer!
